Michael D. Green (Wake Forest University, USA)


Michael D. Green specializes in the area of torts, products liability, and toxic torts.. He teaches at Wake Forest University and previously was on the faculty of the University of Iowa. He served as Co-Reporter for the Restatement (Third) of Torts: Liability for Physical and Emotional Harm, which  was first published in 2010. He also served as a Co-Reporter for another important piece of the Restatement (Third) of Torts on Apportionment of Liability. Green and his Co-Reporter, William Powers, Jr., of the University of Texas, were jointly awarded the John G. Fleming Memorial Prize for Torts Scholarship in 2012. Green is a member of the European Group on Tort Law, which prepared and published Principles of European Tort Law in 2005. He is a founding member and Executive Committee member of the World Tort Law Society. Green regularly lectures in Europe and China. He is a co-author of a leading Torts casebook and of two advanced torts casebooks. He has written dozens of articles in the tort, products liability, and scientific evidence areas. He is also a co-author of the Reference Guide on Epidemiology, contained in the Reference Manual on Scientific Evidence, a joint publication of the National Academy of Sciences and the Federal Judicial Center. The Guide serves as a reference on scientific disciplines for federal and state court judges.

Ken Oliphant (University of Bristol, England)


Ken Oliphant is Director of the Institute for European Tort Law of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, on extended leave from the University of Bristol where he is Professor of Tort Law. He previously held faculty positions at King¡¯s College London (1988-99) and Cardiff University (1999-2006). He has written extensively on English, European and comparative tort law, and compensation for incapacity. He is the joint author of Tort Law: Text & Materials, 5th edn, Oxford University Press, 2013 (with Mark Lunney) and Torts, 4th edn, Palgrave MacMillan, 2011 (with Alastair Mullis), general editor of the practitioners¡¯ reference work Tort Law (2nd edn, 2007, Butterworths Common Law Series), and editor of several books in the series Tort and Insurance Law. He also undertook the revision and updating of the title on Tort for Halsbury¡¯s Laws of England, 5th edn, 2010. His association with learned journals includes the Journal of European Tort Law (founding General Editor), the Torts Law Journal (UK correspondent), the Journal of Professional Negligence and the Journal of Law and Society (editorial advisory board). He is a member of the European Group on Tort Law (and leading its current project on public authority liability), the European Law Institute, and the American Law Institute (for which he is currently an Adviser on the Restatement Third of Torts: Economic Harm).

Lixin YANG (Renmin University of China, China)


Lixin YANG, born in 1952, Professor of Law School and Director of Research Center of Civil and Commercial Jurisprudence of Renmin University of China. He also acts as Vice Chairman of China Civil Law Society, Chairman of Beijing Law Association for Consumer Rights and Interests Protection and Director-General of Academy for East-Asian Tort Law. He graduated from the 1st Senior Judge Class organized by Law School of Renmin University of China. He used to be the Deputy Chief Justice of Intermediate People's Court of Tonghua, Jilin Province; Chief Judge of Trial Court of the Civil Law Division of the Supreme People's Court of P. R. China and Chief Procurator of the Civil and Administrative Department of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of P. R. China. His field of research covers the general principles of civil law, property right law, tort liability law, law of obligation and contract, personality right law, family law, law of consumer protection. He was involved in the legislative work of over 10 laws of China, including the Contract Law, Property Right Law, Tort Liability Law, Law on the Protection of Consumer Rights and Interests. He worked as the key member on the legislative team for Tort Liability Law. He is also the author of a number of well-known books and textbooks, such as Tort Liability Law, The General Principle of Civil Law, Personality Right Law, and Law for Medical Malpractice. He has published over 400 papers on journals in China, including Social Sciences in China, Chinese Journal of Law and China Legal Science. Many books and papers have been translated into English, Japanese, Korean and Italian and published overseas.
